"I had twenty saved. Ron sent three. I bought the second one, and it was the cheaper one."

What was happening in your life when you decided to change vehicles?

"A 2011 Corolla; every three months, something else. Brakes, a wheel bearing, the heater fan. $1,900 by June, still not right. New job on Waverley, 25 minutes each way. I didn't trust it for winter."

What were you originally considering, and how many had you looked at?

"Twenty saved on Marketplace, six weeks of looking. I'd settled on a 2019 Rogue, private sale, $22,900. AWD, looked clean, never driven. Two messages to the seller, one answer."

What did MyRide recommend instead, and why did that land?

"I did the profile on a Tuesday night because it didn't ask for a phone number. Ron sent three the next afternoon: a CX-5, this Civic, and a RAV4 marked 'more car than your commute needs'. The Civic was $4,100 less than the Rogue, and his note said the Rogue's transmission kept it out of the collection. I'd have bought it."

What did you fear before you started this?

"Three cars at the top of my budget. The one he'd buy was the cheapest."

What part of the process surprised you?

"Both cars in my driveway at 8 on a Saturday. I drove each on my commute. Then the fee page on his phone at my kitchen table, matching the website. I waited for the extra thing. There wasn't one."

What would you tell someone who hates dealerships?

"I never went to one."

What does this vehicle let you do now that the last one didn't?

"Not think about it. $623 all-in, and that's what it costs."

What would you change about how we did it?

"It asks about winter tires before where you park. I'm on the street; the block-heater question came in the wrong order."

Who have you told, and what did you tell them?

"Three people at work: I filled in a thing on my phone, a guy brought two cars to my house and said buy the cheaper one."
